Cães do Marco are white sweet-dough figures shaped as little dogs. The official formula is simple—flour, sugar, water, yeast and salt—and their singularity lies chiefly in the modelling: body, head, legs and tail are recognisable in each piece.
The floured surface remains pale and the interior has the structure of a yeasted dough. They are sold individually throughout the year in Marco de Canaveses.
