Bolo de Mel à Terras da Nóbrega is a shallow rectangular cake with a moist, compact brown crumb and a darker, glossy baked skin. The collective presentation that established the sweet's visual identity uses diagonal bands of powdered sugar across the surface. Ponte da Barca honey and walnuts provide its defining aroma; flour, sugar and eggs complete the ingredients disclosed by its makers.
Its form is documented both in bakery-production footage and in the giant cakes made for the annual celebration. It is served by the slice, revealing a fine crumb flecked with walnut, and should not be confused with the many round or loaf-shaped honey cakes found elsewhere in Portugal.

Coffee, black tea or a glass of white Vinho Verde from the Lima valley.
The recipe was created in 2015 through the joint work of four Ponte da Barca pastry professionals, aiming to give greater value to honey and other local products. The municipality turned it into a contemporary emblem of the town's confectionery: in January 2019 a giant cake was presented using more than 100 kilograms of flour, 30 litres of honey, 50 kilograms of sugar, over 200 eggs and 20 kilograms of walnuts. That same year, Bolo de Mel à Terras da Nóbrega entered the Seven Wonders of Portuguese Sweets competition in the Spoon and Sliced Sweet category. The making and sharing of an oversized cake remains part of Ponte da Barca's Gastronomic Weekends.
