Ponte da Barca's Queijadas de Laranja are small round cakes with low, visibly laminated walls surrounding a smooth orange-gold centre. In the oven, the filling develops a glossy surface and a thin, darker caramelised edge while the outer pastry becomes dry, crisp and distinctly layered.
Orange is the publicly documented defining ingredient; the full formula remains Pastelaria Liz's family knowledge. Here, the word queijada describes the traditional tartlet form and does not by itself justify assuming cheese in a recipe the producer has not published.
- layered tartlet pastry

- undisclosed family filling
Citrusy and caramelised at the centre, contrasted by the dry crispness of the layered shell.
The reference version is Pastelaria Liz's family recipe; other Portuguese orange queijadas should not automatically be treated as the same speciality.
At Pastelaria Liz in Ponte da Barca, the shop associated with the recipe's transmission and production.
Espresso, black tea or a bright, high-acid white Vinho Verde.
Alfredo Pimenta of Pastelaria Liz attributes the recipe to his grandmother. The knowledge reached him through an uncle who was also a pastry cook, keeping the queijada within the same professional family tradition. The No Ponto project recorded that testimony in Ponte da Barca in 2015. The municipality now presents Queijadas de Laranja among the newer local sweets, and Upper Minho tourism promotion regularly identifies them as one of the town's characteristic flavours.
